It happened 2,551 years ago. Prabhu Mahavir was wandering on this earth. He was showing the way to great souls and saving them from the cycle of worldly existence. Prabhu Mahavir’s 72 years of life was about to be completed. Prabhu arrived at the city of Apapapuri and announced his final deshana.
Do you know how long this final deshana lasted? Continuously for 2 days and 2 nights! Continuously for 48 hours!
This final deshana of Parmatma Mahavir Swami, is still available today. They are in the scriptures named: Uttaradhyayan Sutra and Vipak Sutra.
In this final deshana, King Hastipal comes and asks about the result of the 8 dreams he had that night. Prabhu Mahavir explained the result of those dreams and described what the fifth era (aaro) would be like. Only a little time is left for the completion of his life. The Parmatma performs a process called 'Shaileshikaran' and attains Nirvana = Moksh (liberation) by becoming free from karma. Prabhu Mahavir was a Kevalgnyani, through whose light Prabhu saw the whole world and told us about it. Kevalgnyan means Bhaav Deepak. That was extinguished. In its memory, people lit Dravya Deepak = diyas.
